Planning applications and road closures will no longer require press ads
Planning applications and road closures would no longer have to be advertised in newspapers in Scotland under a new cost-cutting plan announced by the government.
All public notices would only need to be advertised online, finance secretary John Swinney announced, in a move he said would save millions of pounds for local authorities.
A new public information portal would be established for all Scottish councils to post notices instead of advertising in local papers.
The changes are proposed in the draft Local Authority Public Information Notices (Electronic Publication) (Scotland) Order which now goes out to consultation until February.
