Wates Living Space to build new extra care development in Manchester

British affordable housing construction services providers Wates Living Space has secured a contract to build £7 million ($10.59 million) extra care development scheme for Traford Housing Trust in Sale, Manchester

The scope of the project involves development of 8,000 square metre scheme, which will offer a total of 71 extra care units. Each residential unit will be a one- or two-bedroom apartment. The development will include 49 units for rent and 22 units for shared ownership.

The amenities for the residents at the development will include a number of internal and external communal areas, a nail bar, and Internet café. Other amenities of the building, which will also be available for the people outside the development, will comprise a restaurant, hairdressers, well-being suites, hobby and activity rooms, and lounge.

The project will also have off road parking and will be surrounded by landscaped gardens. Wates has completed preliminary ground works at the site. The project is scheduled to reach completion in March 2014.
