Construction projects ‘focused on summertime improvements’

Construction projects for self builders at the moment are presently centred on improvements to outdoor spaces, such as patios, as people prepare for hotter and drier weather, according to the editor of one trade magazine.

Jason Orme of Homebuilding and Renovating Magazine declared that current trends tend to focus on increasing light and spaciousness in domestic properties.

This results in increasing sales of sliding and folding doors “so that people can eat outside in what, hopefully, is going to be a nice summer”, he explained.

“The desire of homeowners to carry out improvements to their homes will continue,” Mr Orme said, concluding that he is sure this will go on for many years.

Figures from the Met Office indicate that the months between March 1st and May 31st were the driest for more than two decades and the second driest since 1910.

However, some areas in Scotland saw above-average rainfall.
