The Kensington Palace cottage, in which Kate Middleton and Prince William are to move, is said to be undergoing renovation.
It was reported in the Daily Mirror that the Duchess of Cambridge did not like the building’s decor and has initiated a home improvement programme.
A source close to the royal couple declared that the property is too old and stuffy for her and she felt it smelled musty and damp.
“Kate had little say in her marital home, but the only time she’s put her foot down was when it came to interior design,” the individual added.
She “has a keen eye for contemporary, effortlessly cool styling”, the friend concluded.
The Duchess has allegedly ordered 15 candles and six sprays to reduce the odour of the rooms.
It is also claimed that Prince William was willing to let Kate take control in this area.
The couple married at Westminster Abbey on April 29th and are anticipated to move into the cottage in July.
